Greek Blue Flag Beaches in World’s Top 3

Greek beaches have consecutively been listed in the top three spots of the highly coveted Blue Flags Program, the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF) said on occasion of the 30th anniversary of the project.

Swimming Waters Extra Clean at 97% of Greece’s Beaches

The European Environment Agency inspected 92 percent of the country’s bathing beaches and found that Greek waters are of the highest quality for swimming, giving Greece an overall rating of 97.2 percent, placing the country fourth in Europe.

Halkidiki Beaches Take the Lead with Most Blue Flags in Greece

Fifty-two of Greece’s 430 beaches awarded for their quality are located in the Halkidiki peninsula in northern Greece, the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO) said recently, demonstrating the region’s commitment to “responsible tourism”.
