A new gastronomy portal that gives travelers the chance to experience the soul of European culture, history and traditions through its food, was recently launched by the European Commission and the European Travel Commission.
The fifth edition of the "Sympossio-Greek Gourmet Touring" initiative will begin its culinary journey to Western and Eastern Europe from Stockholm, Sweden, at the Grekland Panorama travel and taste fair on Friday 14 February.
"Greek gastronomy has many strengths, with quality raw materials and local cuisine creations in the lead, but it needs to be promoted through an integrated marketing communications plan," a panel of tourism and culinary experts agreed during an event held recently by SETE.
Greek gastronomy will be focused on as a "memorable travel experience" at an event taking place in the parallel events section of the 9th HORECA trade show on 8 February 2014 at the Athens Metropolitan Expo.
The culinary team of Aldemar Hotels Group recently served "Greece on a Dish" from the stand of the Greek National Tourism Organization at the tourism and leisure fair Vakantiebeurs 2014 in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Mount Athos Area Kouzina, an initiative of the Mount Athos Area Organization and chef Dina Nikolaou, will hold 34 gastronomic evenings this year in the Athos region in Halkidiki from 15 May to 15 June.
