The South Aegean Region has entered into a partnership with US-based tour operator Collette Tours to promote its islands as destinations for the “World’s Greatest Vacations”.

According to an announcement, the Aegean islands will be promoted to the US tourism market through Collette Tours’ communication channels, namely its brochures, social media posts, blog posts and newsletters.

Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Marietta Papavasiliou recently said that this is a big challenge as it is estimated that 127 million Americans currently have a passport, which indicates that they are eager to travel abroad and look for authentic experiences.

“Arrivals [from the US] reached 1 million in 2017 and continue to increase in 2018. We aim to attract our share of the US travel market… and our collaboration with Collette Tours will play a major role in our effort,” Papavasiliou said.

Established in 1918, Collette Tours is one of the oldest tour operators in the United States.

Today it offers land tours, river cruises, rail journeys, small group tours, family trips, garden holidays and more to destinations throughout the world.
