Dinosaurs Theme Park Opens in Thessaloniki

Aiming to take young and adult visitors on a journey back in time, Greece’s national exhibition body TIF-Helexpo recently inaugurated a “Dinosaurs” theme park in the northern city of Thessaloniki.

Featuring the impressive creatures, which dominated the earth some 200 million years ago, the park showcases 20 gigantic dinosaurs and other artifacts, in an area of 2,500 square meters.  “A magic journey through space and time will be taking place for the next three whole months,” TIF-Helexpo said in an announcement.

With the “dinosaur-tree” (“deinodentro” in Greek) as the park’s main hero and lots of surprises, children will have the opportunity to interact with the dinosaurs and their environment and live an experience, which – according to the organizers – will offer them insight into the dinosaur era, the climate changes and many more.

Visitors form small groups headed by one “explorer”, who guides them through the exhibition, while the tour lasts approximately one hour.

The “Dinosaurs” theme park was designed by the Felix de Azara Foundation of Paleontology, the Maimondes University of Argentina and curated by paleontologist Sebastián Apesteguía. It was created by TIF-Helexpo in collaboration with Dream Workers, a company specializing in theme parks and Eksagon Greece.
