IMIC 2017 Conference to Explore Greece’s Tourism Prospects

The latest trends in the tourism industry will be on the focus of the IMIC 2017 International Conference, which will be held between October 19 and 21 on the island of Santorini.

Under the theme, “Tourism: Trends, Prospects and Implications for Businesses and Destinations”, the conference will explore ways of creating unique experiences in order for tourism related businesses to attract the interest of travelers.

“Diversity and innovation are important; every tourism related business is seeking to offer unique experiences in order to attract new and repeat guests,” the organizers said in an announcement, while also referring to the importance of the “human factor” for the tourism industry and the need for continuous training and empowerment.

The conference will also discuss on the latest online distribution channels and the different perspectives of sustainability practices.

Furthermore, “the conference delegates will have the opportunity to network with an internationally recognized panel of keynote speakers,” the organizers said.

“Grow Greek Tourism Online” Seminar by Google

As part of its digital skills initiative, “Grow Greek Tourism Online”, Google on October 20 will hold a free seminar, which will present the latest search trends on Santorini as a tourism destination. It will also provide participants with the opportunity to learn how to use digital marketing tools in order to promote a business online.

IMIC 2017 builds on the success of two tourism conferences: the 5th Aegean University Tourism Conference and the 13th IMIC Conference.

This year’s event is jointly organized by the Interdepartmental Graduate Program in “Tourism Planning, Management and Policy”and the Laboratory for Tourism Research and Studies of the University of the Aegean, and the IMIC Series, the annual events held since 2004 by Heliotopos Conferences.

It is taking place with the support of the Harokopio University, the Hellenic Open University, the Ball State University/Management Department and the South Australia University, under the auspices of the Municipality of Thira and the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).
