SeaJets Amends Ferry Itineraries After Vessel Hits Pier at Sifnos Port
The Aegean itineraries of Greek ferry company SeaJets have been amended for the next two days, after its “SeaJet 2” vessel hit the pier at Sifnos port on Wednesday.
The “SeaJet 2” had taken off from the port of Piraeus for its regular route to Serifos, Sifnos, Milos, Folegandros, Santorini, Amorgos, Koufonisia, Naxos and Mykonos. According to an announcement, after entering the port of Sifnos, carrying 194 passengers, and while proceeding to dock, the vessel rammed into the pier of the port at low speed. Following the incident, all passengers were safely transferred ashore, except two people who were slightly injured and taken to the island’s medical center. They departed a few hours later after the necessary physical examinations. All passengers of “SeaJet 2” were accommodated on other ferries to reach their final destination.
The “SeaJet 2” will remain out of service until Friday, September 6.
According to the company’s temporary schedule:
-The “SeaJet 2” vessel will be replaced by the “SuperJet”.
-The “SuperJet” vessel will be replaced by the “Paros Jet” on the Piraeus-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos-Folegandros-Santorini-Ios route .
-Passengers of the “Paros Jet” on the itinerary from Rafina will be accommodated on the “Tera Jet” vessel.
