Russian Media Highlight the ‘Beauties of Kos’

A number of recent features in the Russian media highlighted the natural beauty and the gastronomy of the island of Kos in the Dodecanese.

Following a press trip held in late April, the “Top Beauty” Magazine included a feature in the July-August edition under the title, “The Beauty of Kos” and subtitle, “In Greece one can find anything, but on the Greek island of Kos you can find everything for an unforgettable vacation”.

Written by journalist Viktoria Manukhina the article also refers to the inauguration of flights between Moscow and Kos by S7 Airlines.

Manukhina also highlighted the islands’ exceptional natural landscapes; the picturesque village of Zia and the stunning view from its watermill; the delicious local delicacies; the “Embros Thermi” thermal springs, the archaeological monuments and the Tree of Hippocrates. The Russian edition of “Top Beauty” is distributed in 220.000 copies in Russia and the CIS.

The press trip was organized by the press office of the Greek Embassy in Moscow in collaboration with the Region of South Aegean and S7. It was supported by the Kos Municipality and the Kos Hoteliers Association.

“Fam trips are always a good way for journalists to experience the authentic, hospitality of the island and to get familiar with its beauties,” said Marietta Papavasileiou, vice governor of Tourism for the Region of South Aegean. “We will continue to promote Kos through the foreign media,” she added.

Meanwhile, a report by “Moya Planeta” TV channel also highlighted the island’s gastronomy and local recipes.

Furthermore, the website of the “Izvestia” Newspaper hosted an article on pilgrimage tourism, titled “Greece bets on tourists-pilgrims and doctors”, while mentioning that Kos’ tourism officials expect tourists from Russia to increase by 20 percent.

The correspondent of the RIA-Novosti Agency, Irina Nekhoroshkina published an article on S7 Airline’s first flight from Moscow to Kos on April 29. It also included a statement of the company’s commerce manager Igor Veretennikov, who said that Kos was interesting, not only due to its various beaches….. but also due to a series of sports activities taking place in the northern part of the island, which attracts windsurfing lovers and sports fans. He also said the airline’s routes will be conducted three times a week.
