Historic Athens Hotel King George Up for Grabs

The 5-star King George Hotel in Athens, dating back to the 1930s, is up for sale, Eurobank said this week via an announcement in the press.

Interested parties are invited to submit their bids for the historic luxury hotel, located in the heart of Athens right off Syntagma Square, by noon Monday, June 12.

Eurobank said it is not bound to complete the contest nor is participation in the current phase of the competition binding for interested parties.

The 102-room 9,450m2 hotel consists of three underground levels, a ground floor, a mezzanine, eight storeys and a rooftop.

Eurobank had leased the hotel to Lampsa SA in 2012  for a 20-year period. The hotel, right next to the Hotel Grande Bretagne  also owned by Lampsa SA, opened to the public in 2013.  That same year, in partnership with Lampsa SA, Starwood launched King George as a Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts member.
