Stray Dogs Find New Homes at Costa Navarino’s ‘Pet Weekend’ Event

Costa Navarino, located in Messinia southwestern Peleoponese, in collaboration with PURINA on May 19-21 hosted the 1st Adoption Weekend for pets, titled #WeAreBetterwithPets, in an effort to raise awareness on the protection and care of stray animals.

Organized by the Costa Navarino Pet Community, a shelter for stray animals currently operating in Costa Navarino, the event drew the attention of locals and visitors and resulted in the adoption of six dogs, which will travel to their new homes in Greece, the UK and France.

The shelter is currently hosting 20 dogs, who are in seek of a new home.

The 1st Adoption Weekend offered the opportunity to visitors and their pets to participate in special events, including a seminar by dog trainer Thodoris Triantis. Aussie Pet Mobile GR offered grooming services to pets.

Furthermore, a dog training park was added to the shelter’s facilities, sponsored by PURINA.

The aim of Costa Navarino is to find a permanent home for the area’s strays and to raise the public’s awareness in order for more individuals and enterprises to implement such initiatives in other parts of Greece.
