Grab Your Bike & Join the 24th Athens Bicycle Round!

Bicycle enthusiasts, racing teams and professional athletes will be present at this year’s 24th Athens Bicycle Round, due to take place during the Athens Bike Weekend on May 6 and 7 in the city center. Events will also include the 1st Athens International Criterium, an international race, which will feature teams and athletes from all over Europe.

The 24th Athens Bicycle Round will be held on Sunday, May 7, starting at 10 am at central Syntagma square. During the 13 km route, cyclists will pass through the city center to reach the finish line at Syntagma Square. The start of the 3.5 km route for children and persons with disabilities is set to begin at 10.15 at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Amalias Avenue.

Organized by the Athens Municipality’s Cultural, Sport & Youth Organization (OPANDA), the Athens Bicycle Round every year attracts the interest of thousands of Athenians and visitors. Online registration is currently underway and will remain open until 10 am on May 5 via the organization’s website.

An international bicycle race in Athens

The Athens Bike Weekend will also include the 1st Athens International Criterium, a 3.5 km race which will take place with the participation of European racing teams and athletes. It is organized by the Hellenic Cycling Federation, the Union Cycliste Internationale and bicycle magazine MBike and aims to offer a unique spectacle, with cyclists racing on high speeds. Starting at 11.30 am at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Amalias Avenue, athletes will race through the capital’s central avenues to reach the finish line one hour later.

Parallel events will take place throughout the Athens Bike Weekend at Sytnagma Square, including a bicycle exhibition organized by MBike. Children and adults will have the opportunity to learn more on the latest bicycle trends and enjoy their ride in the city center.
