German travelers are all the more keen on visiting the northern port city of Thessaloniki, according to data collected by the Thessaloniki Hotels Association (THA) during the ITB Berlin travel show last week.

Thessaloniki not only attracts interest as a prime city break hot spot but also as a multi-offering destination which THA representatives explored with tour operators and tourism professionals, including DER Touristik, Medina Reisen, FTI Group, JET2.COM, Trivago, Review Pro, ABTA, Condé Nast Traveller, National Geographic, during the ITB.

Main points of interest for German travelers were the region’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, nature and adventure tourism as well combo-trips including visits to major archaeological sites.

Meanwhile, Thessaloniki will feature as part of a National Geographic Traveller feature story on Greece titled “Greece – A Modern Classic” set to be released in its April edition.
