Athens Celebrates Spring with Sunday’s 6th Half Marathon

More than 20,000 athletes, 6,000 of whom will run the 6th Athens Half Marathon, come to the Greek capital this Sunday (March 19) to break their own records and mark the beginning of spring.

Add to that 10,000 running the 5km run, over 3,000 testing their mettle on the 3km route, plus 1,000 kiddies and Special Olympics athletes joining the fun. Cheering on the participants this year, more than 1,100 volunteers will be manning the streets as back-up during the 6th Athens Half Marathon.

All races start and finish in the heart of Athens, at Syntagma Square, in front of the Greek Parliament building.

For those last-minute runners wishing to register, visit the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) offices on 137 Syngrou Ave.

Jointly organized by the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) and the Athens Municipality, the 6th Athens Half Marathon is a member of AIMS (International Association of Marathon Races and Distance Running) and  held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
