Greece – Kuwait Join Forces in Tourism

As part of the tourism ministry’s ongoing efforts to reach out to new markets, Greece and Kuwait have entered the next phase of bilateral cooperation in tourism after parliament ratified a relevant bill this week.

The agreement, which was signed between the two countries in 2014, foresees among others the participation in tourist events, exhibitions and workshops held in either country; the organization of fam trips for tour operators, journalists and media representatives; the introduction of incentives to attract investment; the exchange of knowhow and expertise; encouraging cooperation between tour operators with a view to increasing tourist flows between the two countries through organized and individual tours; the exchange of tourism education and training.

Speaking in parliament, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura underlined the  potential of attracting high-income visitors from Kuwait and the wider Middle East region to Greece.

“We are working towards strengthening bilateral tourism relations and creating the conditions that will encourage the private sector to enter new mutually beneficial partnerships,’’ Kountoura said.
