New ‘Easter on Syros’ Campaign to Entice Travelers

Orthodox Easter on the Cycladic island of Syros takes center stage in the new six-week campaign launched by the Syros-Ermoupolis Municipality in collaboration with the South Aegean Region and Marketing Greece.

In efforts to attract visitors to the island for the Easter holiday, the campaign, which is targeted at over 1 million users, also includes a contest awarding a six-day trip to Syros.

“We are committed to presenting a distinctive portrayal of each island in the Region and promoting the unique tourist products on offer at each destination”, said South Aegean Region Deputy Prefect Marietta Papavasiliou.

Under the title “Holy Week in the ‘heart’ of the Aegean”, the campaign aims to shed light on the unique customs of the island, which hosts a vibrant mixed community of both Orthodox Greeks and Roman Catholics. The project currently running on discovergreece.com includes inspirational storytelling, video and social media campaigns.

“The ‘Easter on Syros’ campaign aims to promote the island as a leading choice for Easter, highlighting its uniqueness to the Greek public and abroad. Through the campaign we aim to engage over 1 million users and create interest in visiting the island during Easter”, said Marketing Greece GM Iosif Parsalis.
