Greece is making its debut at India’s Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2017, which opened on Tuesday at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre in Mumbai.

Running until February 23, OTM is India’s biggest outbound and domestic annual travel trade show with over 2,500 exhibitors and 15,000 trade visitors from 70 countries and 30 states.

Representing Greece, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) is participating in the trade show with a 153 sq.m. stand and a number of coexhibitors including the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA), tour operators and hotel chains.

Greece’s participation in OTM 2017 is part of the tourism ministry’s international expansion strategy to new markets. The GNTO’s goal is to promote Greece as a global attractive 365-day a year destination to India and strengthen the prospects for attracting upscale visitors.

Aiming to attract more travelers from India to experience Greece’s beauty and services, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura is present at the trade show and will hold a series of meetings with tourism professionals of the country. She will also attend a series of events organized by the GNTO to promote Greece.

Mumbai is the biggest outbound tourist market and business hub in India. Outbound trips by Indians for business purposes are twice as many as for leisure, visiting friends, relatives and other reasons.
