One of the most significant cultural, educational and environmental projects in Greece, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), will be handed over to the Greek government on Thursday, February 23, and true to its policy of exchange with the people, invites the public to participate in the delivery celebrations.
Titled “It’s Yours”, the free event aims to ensure that there will be an ongoing dialogue between the public and the new managers, the state.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has since the inception in 2006 of the project expressed its vision to make the SNFCC fully accessible to the public through open events.
The handover festivities, which will include concerts and dance events, creative programs, sports, readings, workshops and many more surprises – will be broadcast live across the premises.
Located some 4.5km south of Athens, the SNFCC is one of the country’s largest infrastructure projects housing the Greek National Opera, a two-million-book National Library and the 170,000m2 Stavros Niarchos Park on the Faliro Bay shoreline.
The 566-million-euro SNFCC was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, who is also behind the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris.
