Greek Tourism Ministry Names Evridiki Kourneta as New Secretary General

Evridiki Kourneta has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the Greek Tourism Ministry, according to an announcement on Tuesday.

She is from Viotia and was born in Athens in 1976.

An attorney to the Supreme Court of Greece (Areios Pagos), Kourneta has graduated from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with postgraduate degrees in Tax Law, from the Athens University of Economics and Business, and in Public Administration from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.

A member of the Athens Bar Association since 2001, Kourneta has many years of experience in the private sector. She founded a law firm (Evridiki P. Kourneta & Associates Law Offices) and was a legal and tax consultant for commercial, industrial and technical companies entering the Athens Stock Exchange.

From December 2015 until November 2016, Kourneta served as the Alternate General Secretary of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and from February 2015 until November 2016, she was a legal advisor to the Tourism Ministry. She also was a member of the Board of Directors of Greek Saltworks SA (July 2015 – November 2016).

Moreover, Kourneta has offered her services to the departments of Human Rights, Justice, Internal Affairs and Shengen of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000).

She is a member of the Greek National Commission for Human Rights and of the Thermal and Natural Resources Protection Committee.

Kourneta fluently speaks English and French.
