French Travel Agencies Tour Athens, Stand by Greek Tourism

Representatives of eleven travel agencies from various cities of France participated in a recent familiarization trip to Athens and discovered the Greek capital’s many offerings and beauties.

yalos_french_img_3881The fam trip was held November 24-27 and organized by Athens-based Yalos Tours travel agency, Aegean Airlines, the Greek National Tourism Organization in Paris and the Selectour-Afat network, the largest network of independent travel agencies in France (approximately 1,200).

The aim of the fam trip was to introduce Athens as a destination of vacation, conference and winter city break and show the French travel agents what exactly their customers can enjoy in the Greek capital.

During their stay, the French travel agents toured the archaeological sites of Athens, Plaka, Monastiraki, Omonia, the Central Market, Syntagma, the monument of the Unknown Soldier, the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro) and also rode on the metro like Athenians.

“Our purpose was for them to see and walk in Athens and discover the city’s beauties”, Yalos Tours said in an announcement.

The group of travel agents also visited some of the hotels in the city center; enjoyed the hospitality offered by the Athens Tiare, the NJV Athens Plaza and the Electra Metropolis; and tasted the Greek cuisine in the restaurants of the Royal Olympic Hotel, the Pallas Athena and in taverns and restaurants in Plaka and Gazi.

yalos_french_img_4005A day cruise on board the Platytera ton Ouranon vessel of Hydraiki Naval Company was also on the list of activities for the French travel agents in order for them to get an idea of the islands near Athens. On Hydra they had the opportunity to stroll around the peaceful , narrow streets and on Aegina they visited the Monastery of St. Nektarios and the archaeological site of Aphaia.

The travel agency’s aim is to reach 3,500 French-speaking agencies – partners by the end of 2017.
