Transport Workers in Athens Continue Work Stoppages
Workers of the Athens metro, the ISAP electric railway and the tram will continue to hold rolling work stoppages this week.
Workers are protesting the government’s plan to merge the services of the Urban Rail Transport Authority (STASY) that manages all fixed rail modes of transport in Athens and OSY, the public company responsible for the operation of buses and trolleys in Athens, under the umbrella of the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA).
The workers claim that the plan will lead to “the creation of a counterproductive giant group”.
Services will be disrupted as follows:
– Monday, November 21: ISAP work stoppage from beginning of shift until 10 am
– Tuesday, November 22: Athens metro and tram work stoppage from 12 noon to 4 pm
– Thursday, November 25: ISAP work stoppage from 9pm until end of shift.
Moreover, ISAP workers will continue work stoppages on Saturday, November 26 (from 9pm until end of shift), Monday, November 28 (from beginning of shift until 10am), Wednesday, November 30 (from 12 noon to 4 pm) and Friday, December 2 (from 9pm until end of shift).
