The tourism ministry in Greece is set to be upgraded into an independent entity following two Presidential Decrees signed by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras recently believed to be paving the way for an upcoming government reshuffle.

The tourism ministry, which was currently operating under the Economy, Development and Tourism ministry, will now operate as a single entity and according to sources Elena Kountoura is expected to retain her post.

The decision also includes the establishment of an independent Migration Policy ministry, which will include asylum services, the Migrant Authority and the department of economic migration policy services.

The presidential decrees further foresee the establishment of a Digital Policy ministry with transferred staff from the General Secretariat of Digital Policy, an Administrative Reconstruction ministry, Interior ministry, Economy and Development ministry, Environment ministry, as well as an Infrastructure and Networks ministry.
