Key Tourism Figures 2016: Georgios A. Tsakiris, President Hellenic Chamber of Hotels
Official Tourism Message
2016 has developed in to one very good year for Greek tourism in regards to the numbers of visitors that chose our country for their vacations, despite the original concern caused by the subdued start of the season.
Despite the fact that the sector’s situations were not especially encouraging for businesses due to high tax burdens affecting their economic efficiency, prospects and expectations are high for 2017.
Greece, despite the economic crisis that has stigmatized its economic status for the past years, has managed to maintain the tourism industry unharmed and even more to significantly improve its tourism performance through the upgrade of its offered services.
At this point, I would like to emphasize on our positive perspective and I want to invite and ask all of those that form the Greek tourism product, state and private sector, not to regard the past two – three years as the end of an effort, but as the beginning of one. We must operate with perspective and vision and try to ensure the highest possible satisfaction for the visitors of our country in all levels of offered services.
By considering that we are all working towards the common course of upgrading the tourism product, I am convinced that Greece and 2017 are ready to offer its visitors an exquisite tourism product in a safe and authentic environment. And for that matter I invite all that are planning their vacations for this year, to choose our country.
