During a meeting at the Tourism Ministry in Athens, priority projects to upgrade the tourism identity of the destination were discussed. These projects will include revamps to sites and upgrades of building infrastructure in tourism hotspots of Athens and Attica and their inclusion in co-financed sectoral NSRF programs.

Kountoura and Dourou also explored the prospect of co-organizing sports and cultural events, launching multi-thematic culture and tourism sites, and the use of new technologies to better service tourists at places of cultural and tourism interest in Athens and Attica.

Promoting Athens and Attica as an all year round tourism destination to Greece’s target markets abroad was also focused on.

The meeting was also attended by Tourism Policy and Development Secretary General Yiorgos Tziallas.
