Kali Orexi! Learn Sustainable Cooking at Neptune Hotels on Kos
Inspired by Greek cuisine and with a focus on sustainability, Neptune Hotels, on the island of Kos, has announced that it will be offering guests a cooking course, once a week, on the resort’s premises.
“Thanks to this sustainable cooking course, guests can take a culinary souvenir back home with them: a few simple, healthy and delicious Greek recipes to share with family and friends”, the hotel’s management said in an announcement.
The cooking course will take place every Sunday at 1pm. The resort’s Executive Chef Vangelis Galenos will welcome guests in his kitchen to cook traditional dishes. All creations will be prepared exclusively with local products and produce, sometimes even from the hotel’s vegetable garden.
“Fresh organic fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts and herbs play an important role in this process”, Chef Galenos said.
The menu has been put together especially for guests to give them the opportunity to experience sustainable food and the Mediterranean cuisine of Greece. “The cooking course is an interesting mixture of environmental awareness, social responsibility, fresh seasonal ingredients and local tradition”, he added.
In an effort to constantly improve the resort’s sustainability performance, Neptune Hotels has come up with this new initiative as a further contribution to environmental protection. To this end, the entire team works closely with suppliers and guests. Instead of using products that need to travel long distances to get to the hotel, thus causing high carbon dioxide emissions, the Neptune Hotels culinary team gives priority to locally, regionally and nationally produced food and traditional products to support conventional producers and protect the local culinary culture. The hotel serves fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables, conventionally grown and filled with vitamins and flavour.
