Masterchef Italia Cooks Greek Style in Santorini
Italian MasterChef fans will “travel” to Santorini next year, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) announced recently.
Under the initiative of the GNTO office in Italy and in cooperation with the Municipality of Thira, MasterChef Italia, the Italian version of the popular culinary talent show MasterChef, chose Santorini for an episode of its sixth season.
Masterchef Italia has more than one million viewers per episode and the participation of the famous Italian professional chefs Bruno Barbieri, Carlo Cracco, Antonino Cannavacciuolo and American restaurateur Joe Bastianich as the judges.
The episode featuring Santorini was filmed in June and will be screened in January 2017 by Italy’s Sky Uno channel. During the episode, viewers will see a traditional wedding in Santorini and learn about Greek and the island’s local cuisine.
“This is an excellent example of the GNTO’s strategy to promote our country abroad through major international television and film productions”, the organization’s secretary general, Dimitris Tryfonopoulos, said in an announcement.
