Kranidi Fest to Reveal Secrets of Olive & Oil
The 5th Olive Oil and Olive Festival is set to reveal the secrets of nature’s golden gift this weekend in the village of Kranidi in the Argolid on July 30-31.
Gastronomy, nutrition and Mediterranean Diet experts, producers, organic farmers and academics will be there to share their insight into the healthy benefits of olive oil as well as its use as a main ingredient in cooking.
Topics to be covered include the importance of the olive grove as part of a living ecosystem; olive oil and nutrition; olive oil: from field to the shelf; factors affecting the quality of olive oil; and olive oil as the foundation of the Mediterranean Diet.
Organized by the Ermioni Municipality in collaboration with the Peloponnese Region, the festival kicks off on Saturday at Kranidi’s central Repouli Square with presentations, tastings, exhibitions and concerts.
Greek songsmith Dionysis Savvopoulos performs on Saturday evening and the event comes to a close on Sunday with a jazz concert.
The seaside town of Kranidi is 8km west of Ermioni, 28km south of Epidaurus and 38km southeast of Nafplio.
