All passengers of domestic and international flights will come to know the beauties and the “mastic scent” of Chios, an island with great naval tradition.
Travellers will have the opportunity to get an authentic taste of the rich gastronomic tradition of Chios, through traditional products prepared by local producers and cooperatives, such as Citrus, Mastiha Shop, Chios Fruits and Chios Beer.
On flight, a large variety of mastic-based products, such as lukum, baklava, tsoureki and mastichopita, will be offered.
Moreover, special tasty creations from Chios, such as spreads, mastello cheese sandwiches, marmalades, juice and spoon sweets made from local tangerines as well as fresh Chios beer will be available in all Lounges of AEGEAN.
In addition, during international flights and more specifically in Business Class, AEGEAN will offer two extra menu options based on the island’s local cuisine, accompanied by the local red wine Ariousios Afstiros. A mastic liquor, which is already included in the menu and the Apalarina ouzo will also be offered.
AEGEAN will also screen local tribute videos of Chios on board and through other available channels of communication, so that more passengers can “travel” and discover the beauty, the flavors and the welcoming locals of Chios.
“Closer to Greece” is a new initiative launched by AEGEAN that aims to tell the world why each of the country’s destinations are so unique. Every month a special tribute is paid to one or more domestic destinations of the route network operated by AEGEAN and Olympic Air.
