Greek Travel Pages’ English-language digital news platform GTP Headlines was awarded a Silver Tourism Award in the “Online Presence & Communication” category at the Tourism Awards 2016 on Wednesday, April 6.

GTP Headlines was rewarded for its “extroversion in providing tourism information” to a national and international audience.

gtp-headlines-logo2“For four decades, GTP has been the main source of information for Greek tourism. In 2013 we launched the news site GTP Headlines and since then cover daily news and industry developments in the English language, support interesting initiatives and feature regions, companies and sector professionals”, GTP’s CEO, Maria Theofanopoulou, said.

In its third year, GTP Headlines provides original English-language content and daily tourism sector news to local tourism professionals as well as to anyone wishing to gain insight and information about all tourism-related issues in Greece, serving in this way as a “mediator” of sorts.

According to GTP’s CEO, the English language was chosen in order to contribute to the extroversion of Greek tourism and to bridge the information gap of tourism professionals and generally those from abroad interested in destination Greece.

“The number and quality of our readers, as well as our growing partnerships abroad, prove that we are indeed covering a significant gap and we will continue”, she added.

The Silver Tourism Award of GTP Headlines was received by the site’s managing editor, Nikos Krinis.

“Through our daily news articles on GTP Headlines, we aim to contribute to the far-reaching promotion of ‘Destination Greece”, he said.

“By receiving this award on behalf of GTP, I believe we’re on the right track and it boosts my confidence and inspiration to continue to get the word out that Greece is a destination worth everyone’s while”, Mr Krinis added.

This year, the Greek Travel Pages (GTP) marks 40 years of continuous and creative presence; 40 years of support to Greek tourism and industry professionals. Through its networks and national and international partnerships, the GTP promotes and facilitates networking among the sector’s enterprises.

The Tourism Awards 2016 ceremony was held in Athens on April 7 at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall. In its third year, the Tourism Awards rewarded excellence and innovation in the fields of travel, hospitality and leisure in Greece.
