Spetses Vintage Car Rally Revs Ups Engines for Spring
Museum pieces — everything from mint condition Cadillacs and Bentleys, to chic Porsches and Maseratis — will take center stage on April 9-10, during the 3rd Spring Classic Car Rally, set to take place on the Saronic island of Spetses.
Co-organized by the Greek Federation of Friends of the Old Car and Motorcycle (Philpa) and Spetses’ luxury Poseidonion Grande Hotel, the spring race will feature some 90 antique cars dating back as far as 1920, and will this year host the International Federation of Old Cars (FIVA), having moved up a category to FIVA A’ Events.
The classic car race will start on the morning of April 9, from the Isthmus in Corinth, with participants taking special routes through Greek mainland towns and villages to the port of Costa, from where a ferry will transport the vintage vehicles to the car-free island of Spetses. There they will “pose” in front of the majestic Poseidonion Grande Hotel.
Under the motto: “Inspiring People to Care About Old Cars”, Philpa is an Athens-based non-profit club established in 1969.
