Larissa Launches 15yr Marketing Plan, Aims for Key Role in Tourism
Specialized tourism focusing on MICE, nature and trekking, sports and health are at the center of the Larissa strategic marketing plan presented on Tuesday, at the city’s Hadjiyiannio Cultural Center.
Dubbed “Larissa Open City: From Introversion to Open City”, the plan, which took 18 months to complete, was prepared by the Thessaly University Department of Planning and Regional Development.
The scheme, which has an outlook of 15 years, is a result of research, empirical studies and interviews with city actors and sector professionals.
“The implementation of the Strategic Marketing Plan requires that all stakeholders: residents, municipal authorities, business and economic operators, city associations and institutions agree to work together. It should be clear that this effort will only succeed if we share this vision,” Larissa Mayor Apostolos Kalogiannis said during his opening address.
“Our goal is to give Larissa a head start on its way to becoming the city of the next 15 years. A modern, medium-sized city with a European character and distinctive position in Central Greece.”
