Kountoura Talks Tourism with Foreign Ambassadors in Athens

Aiming to boost arrivals from new markets, Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura on Tuesday held successive meetings in Athens with the ambassadors of the Czech Republic, Australia and India.

The meetings were held to explore the possibilities of future bilateral tourism relations to boost visitor numbers to Greece, an announcement by the Tourism Ministry said.

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Jan Bondy, informed Ms Kountoura on the increased interest of the Czech nationals to visit Greece. He invited the tourism minister to visit the Czech Republic and discuss cooperation possibilities with her counterpart Klára Dostálova.

In her meeting with the Australian ambassador, John Jerome Griffin, Ms Kountoura looked into the possibility of the two countries cooperating to exchange expertise on tourism education and the promotion of alternative forms of tourism.

On her part, the Ambassador of India,  Murugesan Manimekalai, informed the tourism minister that Greece has immense prospects of attracting more Indian tourists. Other topics discussed included the possibility of launching direct flights between the two countries and promoting Greece through the film industry of India.
