Attica Region 5-year Tourism Promo Plan Takes Off
Promoting the wider Attica region as an ideal short break destination as well as bringing to the fore the unknown side of life on the outskirts of Athens and across the region, are among the priorities set by the Attica Region in its tourism promotion strategy for the next five years, revealed on Monday.
Priority actions include establishing Athens and Attica as ideal short break destinations with the introduction of a wide array of options and tourism products, marketing the unknown aspects of life in and around Attica through unique holiday spots such as the Saronic isles, tapping into social media tools, working together with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) as well as with key tourism players for the participation in tourism related events.
The regional authority also said in its statement that for the implementation of the plan, it will issue a call of interest for projects to run in the first six months of 2016, and then for the 2016-2020 period, which will be assigned to multiple contractors.
Although mostly occupied by urban Athens, the region of Attica also includes, the Saronic isles, a part of the Peloponnese mainland and Kythira island.
