Give the Greeks a Nobel Prize for Humanity, Vote Now

Despite the unrelenting media coverage of the refugee crisis which has in the past year cast the spotlight on the thousands of refugees who hand their life savings over to ruthless illegal traffickers as the EU looks on, the Greek people have shown that a plate a food, some warm clothes and kindness can go a long way.

With more than 800,000 refugees – some 4,000 a day – reaching Greek shores in dubious ways, the Greek islanders, everyone from the fishermen and the teachers to the housewives and the locals, but also groups of volunteers from Athens and other cities, have shown up, trying in the best way possible to relieve their plight. AVAAZ logo

For this hands-on demonstration of compassion, activist group Avaaz invites you to vote so that the Greek islanders and volunteers be nominated for the Nobel Prize in Peace.

The Greek island of Lesvos has alone served as the main gateway to Europe, with almost half of the annual total going through its shores.

Launched in 2007, Avaaz is a global civic organization promoting activism on issues such as climate change, human rights, animal rights, corruption, poverty, and conflict.

Vote here:  and get the word out on social media. Change is in our hands.
