Awards Pile Up for Heraklion Port Authority
Awards and distinctions are piling up for the Heraklion Port Authority (HPA), with the latest gold in the “Top Export Assistance Company” category during the Greek Exports Awards 2015, last week.
“Our basic objective is to transform the Port of Heraklion into a major hub for maritime transport and tourism throughout the Eastern Mediterranean,” HPA chairman and managing director Ioannis Bras said during the event.
The HPA, which has been lauded for its best practices, projects and initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainability and competitiveness, also picked up a distinction at the 2015 Bravo Sustainability Awards organized by the QualityNet Foundation within the Sustainable Greece 2020 project. The HPA clinched the “Small Business Award”.
Earlier last month, the HPA had collected silver for “Impact on Sustainability”, for the successful upgrade of port infrastructure, specialized facility management and improved quality of services offered – all with sustainability as a key priority.
“This is a period of enormous global developments, where such issues as sustainable development and social cohesion are central in our effort to address the challenges and changes we face as societies,” Mr Bras said.
