Santa Claus Sleds His Way to Athens’ Choco Factory

So Santa Claus is coming to town… and Athenians young and old will have the chance to combine seeing him with indulging in plenty of chocolate at the newly opened Choco Factory Museum at the Helexpo Center in Marousi.

Santa will be welcoming kiddies during the holiday season at the museum’s Christmas Park. In the meantime, youngsters can send their “letter to Santa” at the Magic Post Office and then participate in some goofy face painting while parents visit the Christmas Market offering everything from chocolate goodies and ornaments to New Year’s charms and gifts.

Children can also participate in the museum’s themed activities, learn more about the history of the cocoa plant, where it all started, the role of cocoa in Aztec culture, and through simulated activities have the opportunity to experience the real conditions of the Amazon jungle where the cocoa tree grows.Other events include visiting Europe’s largest chocolate waterfalls, biscuit- and caramel-making, choco art sessions plus many on-the-spot experiments with chocolate.

Holiday hours: from December 24 to January 6: 11am-9pm; Christmas Eve: 11am-5pm. New Year’s Eve: 11am-5pm. Admission to the Christmas Park is free.
