Kountoura Focuses on Key Culture Issues Ahead of 2016 Tourism Season
With the 2016 season on her agenda, Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura on Friday held a meeting with Culture Minister Aristides Baltas to discuss key culture issues that are directly related to tourism and fall under his ministry’s responsibility.
Issues discussed included the culture ministry’s plans to operate new archaeological sites — such as the Ramnοus site in Marathon — as well as initiatives regarding a new e-ticketing system for archaeological sites and the possibility of e-ticket discounts when pre-purchased by travel agencies.
The need for the sites with extended hours to operate from the start of the season and proposals for the launch of cultural activities to promote Greek city break destinations, were other key issues discussed at the meeting.
The ministers also talked about attracting foreign film producers to Greece in order to promote the country’s tourism and boost the national economy.
