Choco Factory Museum in Athens Promises Sweet Delight
Touch ’n’ taste is the motto of the new Choco Factory Museum, which will make its way to Athens, next month following massive success in Thessaloniki.
The Helexpo team, behind the same theme park in the northern port city, will set up the interactive Choco Factory Museum at the Helexpo Center in the northern Athens suburb of Maroussi, slated to open its doors on November 7.
Besides the obvious: eating chocolate, visitors to the museum — both young and old — will have the chance to learn more about the history of the cocoa plant, where it all started, the role of cocoa in Aztec culture, and through simulated activities will have the opportunity to experience the real conditions of the Amazon jungle where the cocoa tree grows.
Chocolate lovers will also have the chance to see the whole chocolate making process and participate in the packaging and… tasting, of course.
Other events include visiting Europe’s largest chocolate waterfalls, biscuit and caramel making, a small farm experience, a visit to the factory’s quality control department, choco art sessions plus many on-the-spot experiments with chocolate.
The Choco Factory Museum opens at the Helexpo Maroussi Center on November 7 and runs through to February 21.
Opening hours: 9am-7pm daily, Saturday 11am-9pm, Sunday 11am-7pm. Admission at 7 euros, family rates at 20 euros (per four-member families).
