‘Greek Shipping Miracle’ – An Online Museum
In efforts to safeguard a longstanding tradition and promote the contribution of Greek shipping to both the local economy and culture, members of the Greek shipping community joined forces to create the “Greek Shipping Miracle”.
The online museum takes its travelers on a virtual journey of Greek shipping in time through archival material collected by shipowner, writer and publisher, George M. Foustanos.
For over a century, Greeks have taken to the seas to support their families. From their tiny fishing boats, they came to become the world’s strongest shipping tycoons thanks to their commitment and vision.
The site aims to highlight and pay tribute to the “outstanding journey of the Greeks in international shipping”, says Mr Foustanos, Greek Shipping Miracle founder and curator.
“I hope that over time the contribution of the Greek shipping industry will not only be understood, but will also serve as a model of will and creativity for the young people who envision something different in their lives. For those who dream of a world where everyone’s work will have a positive impact on the lives of many. Because it is then alone that the ‘Greek Shipping Miracle’ will justify its creation.”
