In this direction, South Aegean Prefect George Hadjimarkos welcomed CNN International Vice President Antonio Canto and a Turner Commercial Productions (TCP) delegation to the Greek island of Rhodes, last week.

“The presence of Mr Antonio Canto and his colleagues here today demonstrates our priority on tourism to our islands, our readiness and our consistent and hard work so far”, Mr Hadjimarkos said of the partnership with the international news network.

CNN_logoMr Hadjimarkos stressed the need for partnerships and alliances, which will “give us the chance to reverse the unfavorable climate formed in foreign markets due to the recent negative news coverage of Greece”.

“The South Aegean Region steps forward and builds such alliances and partnerships on an international level. Partnerships that will give us the opportunity to address the international community, showcasing the true qualities of our islands,” he added.

Mr Canto said the partnership with the South Aegean Region will prove to be very productive, and expressed his pleasure to be visiting the island of Rhodes.

The South Aegean Region, which is made up of the Cyclades and Dodecanese island groups, is the first Greek region to enter a partnership with CNN.
