DRV: German Travelers Still Booking Greece
Planned holidays, new destinations, demand for alternative travel and overall bookings through travel agents to Greece, are still high, according to a recent DRV (Deutscher ReiseVerband) report of market trends.
According to the German travel agents association report released at the peak of the summer holiday season, Greece is “stable at a high level” after last year’s record figures, with Mediterranean destinations such as Turkey, Italy, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, winning over all the more German travelers.
Market research institute GfK data reveals, meanwhile, that Germany’s tour operator market is seeing a healthy rise in customer numbers and sales revenues.
Other destinations topping German holidaymakers’ options are Egypt, recording a mid-double-digit growth rate as well as long-haul holidays to such hotspots as the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico.
The DRV report cites the tourist-friendly euro-dollar exchange rate for the growth recorded in the German outbound travel market.
