Greeks are expected to have access to airline tickets costing up to 10 euros for domestic travel this month, according to an announcement made by Athens International Airport (AIA) on Thursday.

Aiming to assist Greek travellers during the country’s difficult economic situation, AIA has called on to a number of airlines to participate in an initiative and offer a total of 15,000 one-way, low cost tickets (priced 0-10 euros) to Greek passengers.

According to AIA, the following airlines are expected to participate in the scheme: Aegean Airlines & Olympic Air, Ryanair, Astra Airlines, Ellinair, Minoan Airlines, Sky Express and Volotea.

Each airline will be offered 25 euros for each one-way, low cost ticket (priced 0-10 euros) it provides to Greek passengers.

The specially priced tickets are for travel to Greek destinations from July 13 to July 26.

Further information will be provided by the cooperating airlines.
