Ministry Announces Assistance to Greek Tourism Bodies

tourists_tour_bus_AthensThe Tourism Ministry on Friday launched a support system for Greek tourism bodies, aiming to give immediate solutions to any problems that may arise during the current political situation in Greece.

The country’s tourism bodies are invited to contact the ministry at support@mintour.gr.

Greece has seen no mass cancellations

In a statement to the press, the ministry underlined that media reports referring to “massive cancellations” of tourists in Greece are false, as Greek tourism is currently showing an upward trend compared to 2014, according to the latest Bank of Greece official data.

“In any case, tourism should not be used as a means for political debate”, the ministry said and reminded that spreading false and unverified news, hurts Greece’s tourism and undermines the interests of the country.

The ministry said that, according to official data of the last three days, a small decline in “last minute bookings” and individual cancellations has been recorded in Greece. “Leading international tour operators continue to trust and support our country with their official statements”, the announcement read.

“Greece continues to guarantee the highest quality of tourism services to its visitors, who have ranked the country as one of the best destinations worldwide.”
