Greek Business Associations Appeal to Prime Minister: Keep Greece in the Euro

Greece_EUThe heads of Greece’s business associations made a joint appeal to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday to keep the country in the euro in line with growth prospects.

The letter was sent by Constantine Michalos, President of the Central Union of Greek Chambers of Commerce (KEEE); Theodoros Fessas, President of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV); Vassilis Korkidis, President of the National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (ESEE); Andreas Andreadis, President of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE); and Athanasios Savvakis, President of the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece (SBBE).

In their letter, the five heads of Greece’s business associations conveyed their deep concern about the state of negotiations between Greece and its international lenders and declared their support to structural changes needed in the country.

“Greece’s relations with our partners are being tested by responsibility of both parties. But it is important to not sacrifice the significant national conquest of Greece’s participation in the Eurozone and to end this ‘balance of terror’ that has frozen the economy and undermines any prospect of development”, it is underlined in the letter.

The time of responsibility has come. The Greece of work, creativity and openness, needs to be in Europe to move forward. In this effort, we will stand beside you.”
