Singapore Airlines Launches Three Weekly Non-stop Flights from Athens this Summer

48 codeshare flights per week from Athens and Thessaloniki to 90 destinations in Asia and Australia

This summer Singapore Airlines is operating three weekly direct flights from Athens to Singapore and from there to another 90 destinations in Asia and Oceania.

Singapore-Boeing-777-200-ER-The seasonal flights will take place via Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, every Monday and Thursday, until October 8. The third flight will take place every Saturday for the June 20 – August 15 period.

Singapore Airlines is the flag carrier of Singapore has been servicing the Greek market for over 40 years.

This summer’s three weekly direct flights will join the 30 flights the airline already operates weekly from Athens to Singapore with Turkish Airlines and Aegean Airlines via Istanbul, and the codeshare flights of Aegean Airlines via Milan, Munich, Frankfurt and London. The company also operates 18 weekly flights from Thessaloniki to Singapore via Munich and Frankfurt with codeshare flights of Aegean Airlines.

Furthermore, under the the “TAG Athens” project, launched by Athens International Airport (AIA) to make the Greek capital a stopover destination for long-haul flights, Singapore Airlines and Aegean Airlines are further strengthening ties by creating an attractive pricing and flexible common product that includes seven flights from the Balkans (Sofia, Bucharest, Tirana, Belgrade and Skopje), Cyprus (Larnaca) and Israel (Tel Aviv) to Athens and then to Singapore.

“Singapore Airlines has a strong presence in South, East and South Asia, but also in Australia and New Zealand,” said Takis Dimitriou, CEO of Asian Aviation, the official representative of Singapore Airlines in Greece and Cyprus.

“We are very pleased since this year we strengthened our cooperation with Aegean Airlines and the Athens Airport, serving even more passengers from Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the Balkans, while strengthening the international connectivity of the ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ airport.”

Singapore Airlines is a 5-star airline and the launch customer of Airbus A380, currently the world’s largest passenger aircraft.
