Greek Travel Agents Express Concern Over Strike Action During Upcoming Holy Spirit Holiday Weekend
The Federation of Greek Travel Agencies (FEDHATTA) on Wednesday expressed concern over the strike action announced by the Federation οf Associations οf Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (OSYPA) for Sunday May 31 and Monday June 1.
Last week OSYPA announced a 48-hour strike that could cause disruption to those travelling for the Holy Spirit Monday holiday on June 1.
In a letter sent to OSYPA, FEDHATTA said that the work of the civil aviation workers is highly appreciated and that their right to strike is fully respected.
Among other things, OSYPA is pressing for immediate state funding to improve airport infrastructure.
“We consider the provision of high quality and safe services in our country’s airports of utmost importance”, the federation said in the letter.
However, FEDHATTA underlined that the sectors that strive to support the economy of the country must also be protected and called on OSYPA to consider the consequences of its strike action (on the tourism market) during this specific period.
