Grace Group’s Messinia Tourism Project Gets Green Light

Grace_Hotels_kalamataA massive tourism project in the region of Messinia, southern Greece, has received the go-ahead by the municipality following examination of its environmental effects, according to Greek daily Kathimerini. Municipal authorities said the project would be positive for the local community providing employment opportunities, boosting the primary sector, attracting further investment and drawing more tourists to the region.

Grace_Hotels_kalamata1aThe Grace Group investment, to be located along the sandy Velikas beach, will include a 266-bed, five-star hotel, luxury residential villas as well as a thalassotherapy center, health spa, conference center, wastewater treatment plant, restaurants, bars, water sports and children’s facilities. It is set to open in 2017.

As with all Grace properties, the design will reflect the group’s philosophy of elegance and simplicity and respect local architecture and setting. Located approximately 20km west of Kalamata, in an area known for its outstanding natural beauty, the resort will be served by the Kalamata International Airport and via national roadway (a 2½ hour drive from Athens).

This will be the fourth development for the award-winning Grace Hotels Group in Greece, following Grace Mykonos and Grace Santorini, with Grace Kea currently under development.

The Grace Hotels Group is wholly owned by the Libra Group, a family-owned international business entity comprising 30 subsidiaries across five continents.

Grace Hotels began operations in Greece in 2007. The group is active in shipping, aviation, real estate, hospitality and renewable energy as well as selected diversified investments. Libra has global hotel and hospitality interests spanning Europe, North Africa, North, Central and South America and Asia.
