Greece’s Costa Navarino Offers Messinia Students Hands-on Learning Experience
Students in Messinia, in the southwestern Peloponnese, will learn more about the region’s flora and fauna, its marine treasures and the effects of climate change, when they participate in the 4th “Learn and Support the Nature and History of Messinia” educational program to run this month at the Costa Navarino luxury resort.
Fifth and sixth graders and high schoolers will have a chance to get hands-on experience through experiments and interactive activities about the environment and sustainability as they get to learn more about Messinian nature and history and contribute to the research work of the Navarino Environmental Observatory (NEO).
Jointly organized by the Peloponnese University’s Department of Social and Educational Policy and Messinia Tourism Enterprises (TEMES SA), the educational program will run at the Navarino Natura Hall, located on the waterfront site of the resort’s Navarino Dunes.
A joint project of the Stockholm University, the Athens Academy, the Hellenic Ornithological Society, the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA) and Organization Earth, the award-winning Navarino Natura Hall has grown into an important educational center for the promotion and preservation of Messinian nature and the environment.
