Educating tourism sector professionals, promoting local products and services, improving infrastructure and organizing cultural events topped the agenda with local authorities stressing the need to remain united and consistent towards the establishment of the wider Peloponnese region as a prime tourist destination.

In this direction, the local authorities called for the creation of a strategic plan that would involve all public and private parties and would work towards attracting more tourists to the region and giving it a competitive edge.

The Peloponnese peninsula is home to some of the country’s leading tourist attractions, including the city of Nafplion, the fortress city of Monemvasia, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mystras, Olympia – home of the first Olympic Games, the ancient theater of Epidaurus and the acropolis site of Mycenae, among others.
