E. Macedonia-Thrace Authorities Eye Tourism Potential of National Parks
The Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace held a working group last week at the Nestos Delta Information Center in the town of Keramoti, on ways to integrate the country’s national parks into the tourist product offered.
Speaking to municipal authorities and local sector professionals, the regional body called for the establishment of resources in order to extend the tourist season and for incentives that will motivate local tourism operators and municipalities to cooperate ensuring services of the highest quality.
Deputy prefect responsible for tourism Michalis Amiridis said the region’s priority is to enhance the tourist product through alternative forms of tourism, extending the season, ensuring the sustainably of tourism enterprise while respecting the environment and at the same time promoting local products.
He add that this can be achieved only with the close collaboration of all parties involved so that the tourist product benefit the community, the local and national economy.
