Cruise Passenger Traffic to Piraeus Rises in 2014
The port of Piraeus recorded a decreased number of embarkations and disembarkations of cruise ships but a one-million-plus increase in cruise passenger traffic in 2014, the Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) said this week, adding that it remained profitable for a fifth consecutive year.
According to OLP figures, a total of 18.6 million passengers moved through Piraeus, of whom 1.8 million via cruise ships. Compared to 2013, there was an increase in passenger traffic by one million passengers.
At the same time, the report found a decrease in the number of embarkations and disembarkations of cruise liners, despite a recent stabilization in view of international events in the region.
