Athens_treasure huntAs part of the celebrations for International Tour Guide Day on February 21, the Athens Licensed Tourist Guides Association invites both young and old to join an educational and entertaining treasure hunt on February 15 in the Greek capital.

The 5th Treasure Hunt will take participants through many of Athens leading sites, monuments and museums. Those accomplishing their mission will win free guided tours by the members of the association set for March 1, while children will get a certificate of participation.

The event kicks off at the Byzantine and Christian Museum at 10am. Major Athens’ monuments in the hunt include the Byzantine and Christian Museum, Aristotle’s Lyceum, the Zappeion, the church of Agia Fotini, the Arch of Hadrian, the Roman Baths along Amalias Ave and the Museum of Folk Art and Tradition in Plaka, which marks the end of the game.

“We hope, as in previous years, for everyone to embrace our effort and for Athenians to learn more about the beauty and importance of museums in Athens,” the association said in a statement.
